First Student Symposium at Wah Medical College a Resounding Success Wah Medical College proudly hosted its inaugural student symposium on “Advances in Medical Sciences” on June 8, 2024, marking a significant milestone in fostering academic excellence and research among medical students. The event saw participation of around 300 medical students representing premier medical colleges across Pakistan, including Bolan Medical College, Bolan institute of health sciences, KIMS Quetta, SIMS Multan, Akhter Saeed Medical College Lahore, Altibri Medical College Karachi, Hamdard Medical College Karachi, Women Medical College Abbottabad, Ayub Medical College Abbottabad, Saidu Medical College Swat, Chandka Medical College Larkana, Army Medical College Rawalpindi, and Riphah Medical University and many more. This pioneering event provided a safe and conducive environment for students to present their research, facilitating invaluable interactions with esteemed educators and fellow researchers. The symposium was honored by the presence of the Chief Guest, the Pro Vice Chancellor of NUMS, Maj. The Principal Maj Gen Abdul Khaliq Naveed’s motivational speech inspired students to cultivate a research culture within the health profession. The Dean, Prof Dr. Musarat Ramzan emphasized the significance of medical education and research, underscoring how this event aligns with our exit learning outcomes and emphasized on fostering innovation and excellence in healthcare through knowledge and collaboration. Participants showcased their research in two categories: oral presentations and poster presentations. The poster competition featured topics on Healthcare, Mental Health, and Novelties in Medical Sciences, while the oral presentations covered Behavioral and Social Sciences, Medicine and Allied, and further innovations in Medical Sciences. The symposium concluded with a grand closing ceremony, where distinguished winners of the poster and oral presentation competitions were awarded cash prizes in recognition of their outstanding contributions. Additionally, souvenirs were presented to the esteemed guests as a token of appreciation.
